Alexandra Matiss Marinaccio began painting in the Russian style after retiring from teaching in 2000. Inspired by Russian lacquer painting, she paints with acrylic enamels on black backgrounds, adding gold leaf and touches of metallics. Folktales that are part of her Russian heritage motivated her to begin a series of illustrative paintings based on those old tales and legends like "The Firebird" and "Ruslan and Ludmilla". Her paintings have been on display in the Art Alcove of the Long Island Arts Council at Freeport, the Gotham Gallery in Manhattan and the Art-trium Gallery in Melville,New York. Alexandra is an affiliate artist of the LI Arts Council at Freeport , the Huntington Arts Council and The Art League of Long Island.
PAINTINGS in the Gallery are for sale. Contact SashaM45@aol.com for information.
